Dumbfounded by FDE/Wesley Berry Flowers

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I am in the middle of an experience right now with FDE/Wesley Berry Flowers that EXACTLY mimics the one above. We are currently on day 18 of the situation with no resolution in site. I also received 3+ separate emails stating the Order has been "received" by the florist in her town, that Order had been "created" and then that the Order was "en route OR already delivered..." pretty ironic that I was also told that it was a system error and the Order was never processed- despite receiving emails that were suppose to serve as CONFIRMATION that the Order was moving forward. Day 18 and I am picking up the phone once again (after 4-5 emails it's clear it can't be solved this way- they simply send generic responses/emails and/or completely overlook anything I have said or asked- it's comical. Can't believe I'm going to say this as I'm the type who often laughs these types of accusations away- btu based on my research I am concluding that something here is intentional. The similarities in the above posters situation, my situation & countless others I have read this week are in such abundance that there's no way a legitimate Co. would not have fixed a "system error" causing them so many serious issues- not to mention I have followed this same story across the country. Hard to believe this "error" is affecting every small & large town across the US for the past 1-2 years BUT FDE has done nothing about it..? Unfortunately, I don't believe that for a second. I don't care for writing reviews much less a BAD review... come on FDE! My issue could have been resolved in one email and I would not have looked into how far reaching this issue is. Now I will be hitting every website/board/forum I can to steer customers away from racket called FDE/Wesley Berry Flowers.

Wesley Berry is but one of many sending only call centers. They cannot guarantee anyone their orders will get delivered because most real florists will not accept orders from these call centers.

There are some out there like FTD, Teleflora and 1 800flowers that aren't as bad as some of these others, but none of them have local shops. They advertise as local florists, which one think would be a concern to the FTC, but... They also advertise everywhere, including local yellow pages. Best advice is to scroll down the search page and find listings that have addresses and local phone numbers.

Those will be your "local" florists. Also, contact your bank and have the charges reversed for non-deliver of your order.

Not a real florist!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Just some general information to help you out when choosing to order from these "sending only call centers." WB is one of many of these call centers. All of them offer arrangements at "sale" prices that a real florist cannot create for the amount of money they receive over the wire services. In my part of the world, there are three wire services that florists can choose to participate in. Teleflora's Dove system, FTD's Mercury system and 1800flowers Bloomnet system. Real florists have to pick and choose between the orders they receive over these wire services because they pay high fees in order to be part of these services. Most orders from these call centers arrive for less money than the florists minimum to deliver, and they also have to take their delivery cost out of that total because there is none included. Basically, what you paid just for the flower arrangement is the only money sent to a real florist, no matter how many extras you paid. AND... these call centers cannot guaratee you that they can get the order accepted somewhere, much less guarantee you that it will be delivered when you ask. When you see a bouquet advertised at a markdown to the $29.99 range, this is when a real florist will not keep the order. They would be out of business fast. Some struggling florists may choose to keep these orders, but WB always says on the order that prints, "FILL TO VALUE, SIMILAR IS OK!!!!!!!!" (Yes, that many !) It's also why WB and other sending only call centers cannot find a florist in the area where you wanted flowers delivered. It's not that there aren't any there, they just do not keep orders that would quickly put them out of business. Okay, yes, you can run to the grocery store or Walmart, Target, etc., and pick up a cheap bouquet, for less money, but these kinds of stores buy in bulk because they have many, many stores across the country and get the discounts. Florists rely on their local wholesalers, and believe me, flowers are not cheap. When a florist buys a bunch of roses for $30, they can't afford to put them in a $29.99 bouquet. Also, when you see a picture of a bouquet online or even in one of the books offered at a real florist through Teleflora, FTD or Bloomnet, unless that book is filled with pictures that the real florists has done and advertises to its customers, then what you see in that photo is ALL of the flowers that are included in that bouquet. Most all of those arrangements come in either a 6" or 7" vase, but these online call centers will not tell you that. Your best option is to always contact your local florist. The problem with search engines is that the first 5-6 that show up, and sometimes more, are these call centers. They advertise as local florists making you think they are right where you need them to be. WB has a location in Commerce Township, Michigan. Teleflora is in Los Angeles, California. In other words, none of them are local florists unless you happen to live in the city they are located. Scroll down the search page until you see listings that have addresses and local phone numbers, as most florists have dropped their 800 lines. Most people have cell phones these days. Also be mindful of your local yellow pages as Just Flowers and FTD advertise in mine. They also advertise on funeral home websites, Facebook, other online community sites, etc. Real florists will not be advertising everywhere you look. Here's a short list of other sending only call centers that you can choose to use or not, but if you do use, choose carefully and always expect that the crossed out regular price of the standard bouquet is what a real florist will need in order to create that bouquet. Sending only call centers: Just Flowers, From You Flowers, FTD, Teleflora, Wesley Berry Flowers, Kim's Florist in Irvine, CA., Blooms Today, The Sympathy Store, Avas Flowers. There are more out there to be wary of, but as with all things research is key to finding the right thing for you at the time you need it. ALWAYS look up any business with the word complaints following it. If there is a bad rep to be found this is a sure fire way of locating it. I've worked in the floral industry for the past 20 years and can tell you that these call centers have been a thorn in our side for years. We don't deal with most of the call centers and only keep orders we feel we can create for the money they send us. I hope this is informative enough to help everyone.

Wesley Berry Flowers - Disappointed
Placed an order for the Birthday Choice Bouquet today and added 3 mylar balloons. The order arrived on time to my office where they were delivered to a co-worker however there were no balloons and the flower arrangement was the tiniest most pathetic arrangement I have ever seen...for the money...$37.99 (see attached picture, it's smaller than a 12oz bottle of water, would you spend $55.97 on that? Includes shipping & handling) I am now on the phone with Customer Service, have been for 15-minutes attempting to get a refund for the balloons. I was offered an in store credit and requested a refund to my credit card and then I was offered another in store credit with a portion refunded to my card. What is up with that? Just refund me for the product that I was charged for and didn't receive! I was transferred and was been told my card will be refunded. We'll see. Will definitely not order from them again.

Ripped Off

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I ordered flowers online for Mother's Day in 2015 from Flower Delivery Express, Wesley Berry Flowers, 2985 Haggerty, Commerce Charter Township, MI 48390. After completing the payment information and verifying the amounts, I submitted my order. The invoice generated had a surprise. I was charged a $50 fee to be credited toward my next order. I was not happy. I called the customer service number and reached someone in India. He said that they were not authorized to give refunds and there was no point in my writing to anyone or talking to a supervisor. I did report this to my local FBI office and to my local police department. I also reported this to the FBI office and police department that serve Commerce Charter Township, Michigan (a suburb of Detroit). I have not received my money back and have received no help from either the FBI or the police. I'm sure the recovery of $50 is something they don't have time for. So beware. In the meantime, I keep receiving emails from Flower Delivery Service reminding me that I still have a "credit" of now $51.24. I only look ***.

Overpriced and not what is ordered

Wesley Berry Flowers - Overpriced and not what is ordered
I sent my daughter in law flowers twice once for Mothers Day and they weren't even close to what I ordered. Second time only because I had a so called $60.00 credit and the flowers were on SALE for $19.99 and my bill was over 60.00 with that credit. The flowers weren't even close and they were wilted. It was very embarrassing so I called to complain. They did send new ones but I would never deal with this company again. I should have read all the negative comments before I placed the order. When I placed my first order I called them and they told me they were a family owned and operated company

NEVER have I been charged a card fee, vase fee, what a scam. I then chose an arrangement that said "7 left-same day delivery" thinking it was prepared and would be delivered soon. Nope...delivered to my sisters office on the East coast on a Friday where most people don't work till 6:00. Delivered 8 hours after I ordered at 6:00 pm and my sister had already left for the day...which is just as well as they do not look like the arrangement in the picture. Not anywhere near as full as the arrangement and of course by Monday when she got to work everything was brown. I tried and tried Friday to call and let me know if they cant get it there by 5 to cancel...of course no answer. Everything about this company's website is misleading. They must have nothing but 1st and last time customers. I have called customer service - he said someone should be contacting me soon...I asked him why no one had contacted me regarding the two emails I already sent on Friday... no answer. He wanted to give me a $50 credit on my next order. Told him I wanted this order credited or a fresh, full bouquet delivered to my sister. This is not a local florist - they want you to think it is - IT IS NOT!!!! I have attached pics so you can see what it was supposed to look like and what she received.

They probably sent the real florist only the amount they charged you for the bouquet. The florist had to take out the delivery fee from that total and make an arrangement that was at least similar.

In fact, all of WB orders come with this statement as the second choice: "FILL TO VALUE, SIMILAR IS OKAY!!!!!!!!" Yes, that many !!!! marks. So, if the florist receives $40 and have a $10 delivery fee to deduct, then they send out a $30 bouquet.

WB is a sending only call center and not a real florist.

They are but one of many and they all show up first on search engines, funeral home websites, Facebook, etc. No real florist will have every item on their website on sale, but all of these call centers offer discounts, sale prices, free delivery, etc.

This is Tuesday morning. No response.

So, I called again, but this time I chose sales - like I wanted to buy. I was picked up by the call house in the Philippines, as usual. I explained my situation and they connected me with the department (I forget what they called it) that deals with issues like mine. This time it was someone in the U.S.

!!!! Shock!!!!! It's amazing how things go so much smoother when you're talking with an American. He very politely apologized and set up a re-delivery for tomorrow and took $10 off the original price.

It looks like this may end up resolved after all. We'll wait and see.

I'll update tomorrow. :)

Updated by user May 09, 2016

It's now the end of the day, nearly 12 hours since they told me to wait for a phone call or an email. NADA!

I did a SEM RUSH analysis of wesleyberryflowers.net and found that they've got 417 different websites - with over half of those being suspended or no longer online. Almost half of the existing sites haven't been updated recently, some going back to the early 2000's. This is a slick operation. It looks like they're constantly on the move, trying to outsmart and outrun scammed customers.

They should be shut down ASAP. Someone should organize a class action against them. Seriously!

I'm shocked and disgusted. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Original review May 09, 2016
I live in Maine; my mother lives in Tucson, AZ. I'm 58 and I've sent flowers for mother's day every year of my adult life - I always used FTD, then 1-800-FLOWERS when online ordering became the standard. This year, I google searched for a local florist in the Tucson area. WBF came up and they had some beautiful arrangements at a lower cost than the other big name online florists. I set up the delivery for Friday, May 6th. I got the email confirmation that the flowers were delivered on Friday. I didn't get the usual thankyou e-mail from my mother, but I just waited til yesterday and called her. I asked if she liked the flowers, and she said "what flowers?". I called customer service this morning (it took 3 calls to get a clear phone line and someone I could actually understand and communicate with) and was told to wait for a phone call or an email from the company's HQ for further instructions. It's been 3 hours and there's no email and no call. This is outrageous! I've never, ever had this kind of runaround before - and I've had my share over the years. Horrible experience and feeling very vulnerable right now. The thing that's really not good is that they confirmed delivery, and it's usually hard to get the charge removed from a card in those cases. Just very disappointing. All I wanted was form mom to get a pretty bouquet on her special day. All around bummer, and I will not be using these scammers again. I'd advise all to avoid this florist at all costs.

WB is not a real florist but a sending only call center and the worst of the lot in my opnion. FTD and 1800flowers, as well as Teleflora, Avas, Ranch Florist, Blooms Today, Just Flowers, From You Flowers and more are also sending only call centers.

Most reputable florists will not accept orders from these call centers even though we do use their wire services. We are not obligated to take orders from TF FTD or 800flowers. We pay high prices for the use of their wire services, but we do search out reputable florist in the areas we need to send them before we run out customers credit cards. These call centers are the bane of the floral industry.

Always scroll farther down the page when doing a search and remember: real florists can't afford to have everything on their websites on sale, cannot give high discounts nor free delivery, although some us do on higher priced items, like funeral pieces that are already expensive to make. Hope this helps.

Thoughtful Gestures Fruit Basket

Wesley Berry Flowers - Thoughtful Gestures Fruit Basket
Quality of product was not as described on the website. Product #WBF 01846. I paid $85.39 the product description stated the fruit basket would have a wood chipped basket, with green taffeta ribbon. The fruit pictured was supposed to be pineapple, apples, oranges, bananas, pears, and other seasonal fruit. This purchase was for my children's wedding anniversary. Instead they received a basket that looked like a fast food fish and chip basket, with bruised, overripe, undersized fruit. I was embarrassed when my daughter sent me the below photo. I called Wesley Berry Flowers(twice) about this order, I was offered $20 off. I don't want a reduction in cost, I want a Thoughtful Gestures Fruit Basket resent as depicted on their website. Thank You!

Unfortunately, WB isn't a real florist, but a sending only call center that only takes orders based on photos they use from other websites. What they advertise most likely cannot be replicated by a real florist for the money they are wired over one of the wire services a real florist pays to have the use of.

Most real florists will not deal with these call centers and although what you received didn't look anything like what you ordered, it was what the real florist could put in the basket for the money they received.

Be wary of these so called local florists. They all advertise as being local but aren't and some even advertise in local yellow pages. WB is only one of many of these sending only call centers, FTD and Teleflora being two of the others.

These centers cannot guarantee you anything.

They can't guarantee there will be a florist in the area you are sending flowers or gift baskets who will keep the order.

Of the florists that do keep these orders, they use the second choice sent to them, which is "FILL TO VALUE... SIMILAR IS OK!!!!!!!!" (written exactly like that)

I've worked in the floral industry for over 20 years and I can tell you that these sending only call centers are the bane of the industry.

I placed an order for an "Admiring Elegance bouquet" with a premium upgrade. The bouquet that was delivered is completely different (picture added). I called customer service and the lady promised to send the right order which never happened. I called again and was transferred many times and put on hold. This is the worst service I have ever had despite the fact that I am a returning customer for over 3 years. I made 3 calls, spent hours on the phone with customer service, had to repeat my name every time and the outcome was clearly unsatisfactory

I am writing to let you know my niece, Lynn Jackman, has a very legitimate claim. The planter that was sent was very small, definitely not an "upgraded" planter. It was pretty but NOT what she wanted, nothing close! I can't believe she had to pay that much for an upgrade, didn't even get it, and no one will talk to her about it. This is just not right. If this is the way you treat your customers I certainly will not recommend your shop to anyone! I guess you don't know the meaning of "upgrade" or "funeral arrangement" or "customer service". I was so distraught at the time I didn't even register what had happened until my niece sent a copy of her letter to me. The flowers were meant for me for my husband's funeral. This doesn't speak well at all of your service!!

Then after the fact a message pops up to tell me that I am actually being charged $61 for a Sales Fee! Real slick! Next the flowers showed up to my Mother for mothers day 2 days early and completely different from what i ordered. I ordered the Make ME Blush Bouquet and instead my mom got pink roses that are all sheiveled up and half dead already! WHat the *** How can they keep doing this to people and getting away with it. I ordered flowers for my mom back in 2013. She never got them and we tried to contact the company to no avail. We even contacted our bank and they tried to get our money back as well to no avail. Today I opened up an old One Note folder and there it was, the receipt. My family never really got over that and never forgot it. Do not use this company unless you want to lose money. We lost $53.47 of our hard earned money. Still angry after all this time that people can take advantage of others.

7/8/2016 I ordered flowers for same day delivery. The flowers were delivered the following day and left on the porch in temperatures of over 100 degrees. The recipient’s flowers were dead when she arrived home. I called Wesley Berry Flowers 3 days later and explained the situation. I was promised a phone call or email the following day, neither of which I received. Upon receipt of my bill I called again and was offered a $15.00 refund. The cost of flowers plus delivery was over $65.00. I explained this was unacceptable. I wanted fresh flowers delivered or a full refund. Their website advertises FreshGuarantee 100% CUSTOMER SATISFACTION GUARANTEED. Again I was promised a supervisor would call me the next day. This company is a scam! I was completely mortified. The person I sent the flowers to told me they looked very unprofessionally arranged and they were jammed in a small vase haphazardly. I paid $66.00 which was charged for shipping and handling when it was supposed to be free. Then after I ordered they said there was a delay and wasn't going to be delivered the day I requested. I also paid a $10 upgrade to get a deluxe boquet. The arrangement was anything but deluxe!!!! Terrible company and after I complained I had to fight to get a $25.00 refund!
